The Integrated Centre for Wellbeing (I-WELL) of the Educational University of Hong Kong was sponsored by Tin Ka Ping Foundation to organize the "Neuroscience and Education Technology in Special Education Research". The research aimed to broaden the horizons of participants and apply neuroscience and education technology in special education. Through classroom learning, visiting schools in Hong Kong and discussions, participants would have a better understanding of how innovation and technology, neuroscience and electronic learning could apply in special education curriculum and services in Hong Kong. This allowed participants to acquire experiences, thus enhance the development of special education in mainland China. The research comprised three stages. Training courses were provided by I-WELL in stage 1, whereas I-WELL staff visited the Nanjing Normal University Of Special Education in stages 2 and 3.
- To broaden the horizons of participants and apply neuroscience and education technology in special education. To enhance special education standards in mainland China.
- To enhance, through field study, a better understanding of the development of special education in Hong Kong, the schools’ operation in schools and the provision of services.
- To be able to transfer knowledge and skills to teachers of special education after the completion of the training program in order to apply nationwide for the benefits of students.
