Acting Head of Centre
Centre of Language in Education
Associate Head of Department / Assistant Professor
Department of English Language Education (ELE)
Research Area(s):
- Language Education
My research interests cover discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, bilingual education (particularly content and language integrated learning [CLIL] and language across the curriculum [LAC]), and critical cultural studies. I have investigated extensively the curriculum and instruction of English-medium instruction/LAC/CLIL in a number of national or regional contexts. Recently, I am focusing on two main strands: how to foster knowledge co-construction in the English-medium/LAC/CLIL classrooms via translanguaging and trans-semiotising at all educational stages; and how to enhance critical literacies in and out of the classroom. You are most welcome to approach me if you share similar research interests.
