Xi Xi City (www.xixicity.org) is a fully bilingual digital humanities introduction to Hong Kong’s best-loved writer, and it is part of the online presentation of One City One Book Hong Kong, a community reading initiative hosted by LCS. The site includes biographical and literary data, community commenting functions, and GIS mapping of locations that appear in Xi Xi’s writing. As a living exhibit, it showcases major life events and recognition of the writer, publications and translations of Xi Xi’s works as well as homage to her fiction, poetry, essays and artwork across regions in Hong Kong, Taiwan and the mainland China. And the site is interactive and provides a place for everyone to read and write about one of Hong Kong’s greatest authors. Users can contribute–via writing, art, music, or in any other form–to the ongoing discussion of beloved works like My City. Meanwhile, there are new and ever-expanding ways of exploring Xi Xi’s career and its many high points. Besides, scholars may refer to the timeline as research materials. Xi Xi City sustains the close connection between Xi Xi and Hong Kong, while also inviting readers from around the world to experience her unique voice.
