LML had the privilege of hosting two esteemed guests in November 2023: Prof Kim Jung-sup from Kyung Hee University in Korea and Prof Izumimoto Chiharu from Nara Education University in Japan. These visits provided excellent opportunities for LML colleagues to engage in fruitful discussions with the visiting professors to explore various avenues for collaboration, marking an important milestone in its journey toward internationalisation. Both professors expressed a keen interest in co-developing events that will enhance student exchanges and promote cultural understanding among students from different regions or universities. These collaborative initiatives hold great promise in enriching the educational experience of our students, fostering a truly global outlook.
The Korean Session of LML’s multicultural event took place in the Central Plaza on 20 November 2023. The event aims to introduce Korean culture and promote the LML’s Korean studies programme, especially with the Korean Studies Minor Programme ready to launch this upcoming semester. It showcased traditional and popular Korean cultures, including a K-pop dance performance, traditional Korean games, and a Taekwondo demonstration. Through the event, students experienced Korean culture through various performances, tried Korean games first-hand at a booth specially organised by EdUHK’s Korean students, and enjoyed Korean snacks. The session ended in great success, providing a thrilling opportunity for many EdUHK students to explore Korean culture and to introduce LML’s various Korean language and culture courses.
