The Looking at Festival Lights: Yam Gong’s Hong Kong Poetry Symposium, organised by the Department of Literature and Cultural Studies (LCS), was held successfully on 10 December 2022.
Scholars, researchers and literature lovers interested in Hong Kong Poetry attended this symposium to discuss the artistic value of Yam Gong’s Hong Kong Poetry.
Six scholars in the field of Modern Chinese Literature were invited to give presentations. They come from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University and the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. Over 30 poets, teachers, researchers and literature lovers participated in the symposium.
Yam Gong’s poetry combines traditional allusions and modern images. His poetic language combines modern Chinese, Cantonese and English, showing a rich artistic value. Several speakers said at the seminar that Yam Gong’s poetry is rich in literary meaning, deeply rooted in the beauty of folk language and customs, and deserves serious attention of the academic community.

The ICELEAL 2022 Congress: Fostering Hong Kong as a Hub for Academic Exchanges in English Language Education and Applied Linguistics
The International Congress on English Language Education and Applied Linguistics 2022, organised by the Department of English Language Education, the Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies, and the Centre for Research on Linguistics and Language Studies from 6 to 9 December 2022, aims to bring together academics from around the world to report on their various research work related to English Language Education and Applied Linguistics. As English Language Education and Applied Linguistics are gaining momentum in this globalised world, it is hoped that through this congress we can promote Hong Kong as a hub for academic exchanges and collaborations in the area of English Language Education and Applied Linguistics. Given the current pandemic situation, the conference was held via Zoom.

FHM Celebrates 10th Anniversary in the Kick-off Ceremony
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Faculty of Humanities (FHM) of The Education University of Hong Kong, the Faculty of Humanities organised the Kick-off Ceremony on 16 September 2022 to serve as a prologue of anniversary celebrations. More than 100 guests, staff, students and alumni joined the ceremony. The ceremony also featured a live webcast to share the joy with the online audience.
