The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK)’s Department of Chinese Language Studies (CHL), Master of Arts in Teaching Chinese as an International Language (MATCIL), Faculty of Humanities (FHM), Centre for Research on Chinese Language and Education, and International Journal of Chinese Language Education organised “The Seventh International Conference on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language” online on 15-16 December 2022.
The conference attracted nearly 200 attendees, including scholars and teachers from local and overseas, to explore innovations in theory, research, and pedagogy of international Chinese language education. This conference was co-organised by the Chinese Program of Swarthmore College in the United States, the School of Chinese of The University of Hong Kong, the Department of Chinese as a Second Language of Taiwan Normal University, and the Graduate Institute of Teaching Chinese as a Second/Foreign Language, Kaohsiung Normal University.
Since 2015, the International Conference on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language was hosted by The University of Hong Kong, The Education University of Hong Kong, Taiwan Normal University, and Kaohsiung Normal University. In 2023, the Chinese Program of Swarthmore College in the United States will host the eighth conference. This conference is an important event in the field of teaching Chinese as a second language, with the purpose of providing an international platform for academic communications among teachers, researchers, scholars, and educators from all over the world.
