Over 200 experts, scholars, teachers and language educators from all over the world attended The Fourth International Conference on Chinese Language Education held from 14 to 15 July 2022, organised by the Department of Chinese Language Studies (CHL) of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). During the two-day conference, the participants shared the latest achievements of Chinese language education in recent years and discussed its future direction to promote the development of Chinese language education.
Delivering keynotes addresses were four scholars: Professor John Lee Chi Kin, Vice President (Academic) and Provost of EdUHK; Professor Pamela Leung Pui Wan, Professor (Practice) of CHL of EdUHK; Professor Chew Cheng Hai, former Head of Chinese at the National Institute of Education of Nanyang Technological University; and Professor Lo Ming Tung, Head of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Hong Kong Baptist University. The conference covered a wide array of local and mglobal mtopics, from classical Chinese literature learning to contemporary education perspectives. The conference also featured three symposia and 19 sessions by scholars from Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Cambodia, Thailand and other regions, who exchanged views on new trends in Chinese language education in the regional and global contexts.
The opening of conference was addressed by Professor Chetwyn Chan Che Hin, EdUHK’s Vice President (Research and Development); Professor John Nguyet Erni, EdUHK’s Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; and Dr Liang Yuan, Acting Head of CHL at EdUHK. Professor Chan affirmed the role of experts and scholars sharing research results in promoting the sustainability of Chinese language education around the world. On the same occasion, Professor Erni believed that prospective teachers at EdUHK would be able to learn from the themes of this conference and apply them in their teaching, such as how to apply allusions and history to modern education. Dr Liang reported on the recent work and achievements of the Department in promoting Chinese language education. She also announced EdUHK’s plan to launch a new book series, titled "The Routledge Series on Chinese Language Education", in collaboration with internationally renowned publisher Routledge, to promote the international development of Chinese language education.

The ICELEAL 2022 Congress: Fostering Hong Kong as a Hub for Academic Exchanges in English Language Education and Applied Linguistics
The International Congress on English Language Education and Applied Linguistics 2022, organised by the Department of English Language Education, the Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies, and the Centre for Research on Linguistics and Language Studies from 6 to 9 December 2022, aims to bring together academics from around the world to report on their various research work related to English Language Education and Applied Linguistics. As English Language Education and Applied Linguistics are gaining momentum in this globalised world, it is hoped that through this congress we can promote Hong Kong as a hub for academic exchanges and collaborations in the area of English Language Education and Applied Linguistics. Given the current pandemic situation, the conference was held via Zoom.

FHM Celebrates 10th Anniversary in the Kick-off Ceremony
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Faculty of Humanities (FHM) of The Education University of Hong Kong, the Faculty of Humanities organised the Kick-off Ceremony on 16 September 2022 to serve as a prologue of anniversary celebrations. More than 100 guests, staff, students and alumni joined the ceremony. The ceremony also featured a live webcast to share the joy with the online audience.
