The International Conference on International Conference on Technology-enhanced Language Learning and Teaching (TeLLT) and International Conference on Corpus-based Language Learning and Teaching (CoLLT) 2021 organised by the Department of Linguistics and Modern Language Studies, the Centre for Language in Education, and the Centre for Research on Linguistics and Language Studies from 7 to 9 July 2021 aimed to bring together academics from around the world to report on their various research work related to TeLLT, and CoLLT. As TeLLT and CoLLT are gaining momentum in this digitised world, it is hoped that through the two jointly held conferences, we can promote Hong Kong as a hub for academic exchanges and collaborations in the area of technology-enhanced language learning and teaching, and corpus-based language learning and teaching. Given the current pandemic situation, the conference was held via Zoom.
The conference attracted more than 130 presenters from different parts of the world, including Australia, Austria, Colombia, Egypt, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, Macau, mainland China, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, New Zealand, Taiwan, the Netherlands, the UK, and the USA reporting their studies on technology-enhanced and corpus-based language learning and teaching in English, Putonghua, Cantonese, and other modern languages.
The conference was a great success: during the six plenary sessions, 19 parallel sessions and four themed symposiums, there were over 800 participants in total (headcounts), and the participants had very insightful discussions and exchanges on TeLLT & CoLLT issues.
The conference was honoured to have invited the following distinguished keynote speakers in the field of TeLLT & CoLLT.

The Education University of Hong Kong: Online Classes Platform Project: Online Seminar on Chinese Teaching and Learning in Secondary Schools
Two sharing sessions were conducted for “The Education University of Hong Kong: Online Classes Platform Project” by two partner secondary schools – Ying Wa College and Methodist College via Zoom on 9 July 2021. They presented their experiences on making good use of online resources to enhance Chinese writing classes and their practical tips on executing effective Learning and Teaching for Chinese subject under the new normal.

Writing Competition@The Education University of Hong Kong Promotes Respect for Teachers
“The Second Greater Bay Area ‘Respect for Teachers’ Life Education Writing Competition” successfully concluded with an online award ceremony and a sharing session held by The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) on 20 August 2021 with more than 150 schools and families participated. It had received 8,029 contributions from students in 363 primary schools in Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen and Zhuhai.

Saturday Seminar Series (Cohorts 1 and 2)
In the fall of 2021, the Department of English Language Education arranged 10 Saturday Seminars conducted in the hybrid mode with over 500 in-service teachers in attendance. The first five offered practical ideas and strategies for “English Language Teaching in the Digital Era”. The aim was to support practising English language teachers’ professional development by introducing current and emerging digital pedagogical practices. The second series of seminars focused on enhancing student learning through assignments involving a wide range of literary and creative genres. It was designed to help practising teachers strengthen their instructional skills and knowledge in the English Language Education Key Learning Area.
