To promote the development of the research in Chinese language and education for mutual benefits, the Centre for Research on Chinese Language and Education (CRCLE) has established academic strategic partnerships with renowned academic institutions in the Greater China region, focusing in particular the CRCLE’s three major research themes: Chinese linguistics, Chinese education, and teaching Chinese as a second language.
The strategic collaboration plan between the CRCLE and the Department of Chinese Language Studies (CHL) of The Education University of Hong Kong and the Centre for Chinese Linguistics of Peking University has been officially initiated in 2020, and a series of joint seminars and exchange visits will be launched soon. In the area of teaching Chinese as a second language, an agreement of collaboration was signed in August 2020 by the CRCLE and the Research Institute of International Chinese Language Education of Beijing Language and Culture University, forming a strategic partnership by which both parties will jointly organise academic seminars and reciprocal visits in the next three years. Moreover, the CRCLE is in active negotiation with Singapore Centre for Chinese Language of Nanyang Technological University, with the expectation to build an academic strategic collaboration in the field of Chinese education research soon.
The successful establishments of strategic partnerships in the three major research themes of the CRCLE will strengthen the academic collaboration between the centre and the prominent academic institutions in the Greater China region, which will provide an international platform for academic exchange, broaden colleagues’ horizons, and create better synergy in research.
