Mr Nicholas Wong Yu-bon, Lecturer I at the Department of Literature and Cultural Studies of the Faculty of Humanities, is the first Asian winner of the 2018 Peter Porter Poetry Prize. His winning poem ‘101, Taipei’ was chosen from almost 1,000 poems and published in the March issue of Australian Book Review.

First awarded in 2005, the Peter Porter Poetry Prize is one of Australia's most prestigious prizes for a new poem. The Prize is named after the great Australian poet Peter Porter (1929–2010) and open to all poets writing in English. For more information, please visit here.

Mr Wong was the recipient of the Award for Young Artist (Literary Arts) of the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2016 organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.  He also won the 28th Annual Lambda Literary Award (under the category of Gay Poetry) for his poetry collection Crevasse in 2016.  He is the first Asian poet receiving this honour since the establishment of the Lambda.
