Funded by the Faculty Teaching Development Grant of the Faculty of Humanities, Mr Nicolas Wong, Senior Lecturer II of Department of Literature and Cultural Studies, established the Writing-Plus which is an online platform offering free teaching materials prepared by international poets, writers and translators. This project intends to provide local teachers with practical ideas for promoting literary appreciation and creative writing—which would in turn enhance learning English as a second language. The launch of Writing-Plus features pedagogical materials designed by Q. M. Zhang (prose), Jennifer Wong (poetry), Jennifer Feeley (translation), and four lesson plans by EdUHK students. This November, Writing-Plus will partner with the Hong Kong International Literary Festival in the Urban Love Poem Initiative, which includes a poetry contest for local secondary school students. Meanwhile, Mr. Sy Wai Nok, Lecturer II of Department of Literature and Cultural Studies,  co-manages the Chinese pedagogical materials for this project, with an emphasis on expanding local schools’ Chinese creative writing curriculum and promoting contemporary voices in Hong Kong literature.
