We are excited to share that the Faculty of Humanities (FHM) hosted a research postgraduate (RPg) student gathering on 25 April 2023. The gathering brought together FHM’s RPg students, their supervisors, and the Faculty management. At the gathering, colleagues shared their academic journeys and experiences on research and provided valuable insights and mentorship to RPg students.
Dr Andy Chin, Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Studies), welcomed our new students, introduced the FHM research community, and highlighted the various supports and trainings provided by FHM.
Dr Yip Cheuk Wai, Associate Professor in the Department of Literature and Cultural Studies (LCS) and Director of Research Centre for Chinese Literature and Literary Culture (RCCLLC), together with post-doctoral fellows, Dr Zhang Huanhuan from LCS and Dr Robert Tsaturyan from RCCLLC, shared their views on the importance of building research network. They encouraged students to actively engage in the research community, explore opportunities of research collaboration within and across disciplines, and take feedback as helpful advice for professional development.
Prof Michelle Gu, Head of the Department of English Language Education, emphasised the importance of research publication and motivated students to contribute to the community in practice.
Prof John Erni, Dean of FHM, gave his closing remarks by highlighting the importance of 3Ps: Professional, Passionate, and Proactive. He encouraged RPg students to form their own research communities as a starting point.
We are grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the gathering. Stay tuned for more exciting updates on our research and academic endeavors!
