Introduction
If you are reading this booklet you have agreed to join the blue skies
programme as a Sponsor, Advisory Sponsor or Head Sponsor. This
involves a significant time, energy and commitment. Evaluations of
the first five blue skies programmes were unambiguous — Learning
Squares in which Sponsors deliberately and regularly contacted BPs,
where they organised and structured meetings, and followed up on
reports and regularly attended blue skies events, were much more
effective in terms of learning than when Sponsors stayed more
detached. The same was true for Head Sponsors. Effective Sponsors
were organized, knew how to prioritize and controlled their time,
rather than letting it control them. They rarely missed blue skies
events. In short they were excellent role-models for BPs.
