Data Protection and Privacy
The Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance aims to protect the privacy
interests of living individuals in relation to personal data. The
Ordinance covers data relating directly or indirectly to a data subject
(which must be a living individual). The ordinance applies to any (data
user) that controls the collection, holding, processing or use of
personal data.
A data subject has the right to confirm with data users whether they
hold any personal data of the data subject, and to obtain a copy of
such data, and to have their personal data corrected. The data user can
charge for providing a copy of the personal data, but such fee cannot
be excessive.
