4. Roles of SSBs and SMCs

                                  ● When reading the NAP Professional Portfolio,
                                       the SSB/SMC should bear in mind that it is a
                                       professional development portfolio and not an
                                       evaluation portfolio.

                                  ● The SSB/SMC should note the extent of
                                       professional growth made by the NAP through
                                       studying the following aspects:
                                       ● the thought given to the selection of ma-
                                            terials supporting the NAP’s experiences in
                                            achieving professional growth;
                                       ● the professional development is pin-
                                            pointing developmental targets set in accor-
                                            dance with the needs of the principals, the
                                            school and society;
                                       ● the demonstration of self-reflection on
                                            what is learnt;

                                       ● the application of reflection results in pre-
                                            paring action plans for further development of
                                            the principal, the school and society; and
                                       ● the evaluation of the outcomes of these
                                            plans so as to form the basis for needs of fur-

                                            development;
                                  ● After reading the NAP Professional Portfolios,
                                       SSBs/SMCs should decide on further guidance
                                       and support for the continuing professional
                                       development of their principals.
