Ms Vivien Tang Foong Yee, a PhD student who is currently under Professor Chou Kee-lee's supervision, has recently published a series of articles: two on open access and one in press. These papers studied the relationship between poverty and examined material deprivation and loneliness among older adults in Hong Kong.

SWU Faculty of Social Science Visits The Education University of Hong Kong on July 23, 2024
In a bid to foster international academic collaboration, the Faculty of Social Science at Srinakharinwirot University (SWU), Thailand, visited The Education University of Hong Kong. The delegation, led by Dr Fox Hu, the Acting Head of the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies, engaged in extensive discussions covering four key areas of mutual interest.
The meeting's agenda included:
1. Program Overview: Both universities shared insights and detailed descriptions of their respective academic programs, aiming to identify synergies and opportunities for curriculum enhancement.
2. Research Themes: An exploration of research themes and interests of faculty members from both universities was conducted to pinpoint potential areas for collaborative, cross-boundary research initiatives.
3. Knowledge Exchange: The discussion also extended to promoting educational trips for both students and staff, focusing on enriching their academic and cultural experiences in Thailand.
4. Student Exchange: Potential future student exchange programs were examined, laying the groundwork for increased student mobility and international exposure.
Established in 1949, Srinakharinwirot University is Thailand's first higher education institution dedicated exclusively to teacher training. This visit marks a significant step towards enhanced academic cooperation and the expansion of joint student activities between the two esteemed universities.
The engagement between SWU and The Education University of Hong Kong underscores a shared commitment to advancing educational excellence and fostering global academic networks.
