Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Personal Finance and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Business, Accounting and Financial Studies) (For 2025 intake)
Programme Introduction
The BA(PF)&BEd(BAFS) programme aims to train pre-service teachers to effectively teach Business, Accounting and Financial Studies [BAFS] and Business Fundamentals [BF] in secondary schools. Students are also equipped with academic and professional competencies in personal finance and finance advisory. They will be introduced to the fundamental operations of the banking and financial sector within the global business context, and the contemporary conceptual and practical issues in investment analysis, portfolio management, budgeting and taxation, wealth management, and financial planning and counselling. The disciplinary knowledge in personal finance and finance advisory can enhance prospective teachers’ competence to deliver financial education and organise student activities for promoting financial education in secondary schools. Upon the completion of the programme, graduates will be able to display competent teaching with professional conduct and ethics for quality business and financial education provision in secondary schools.

Notes:
(1) Classes will be held in Tai Po Campus and Tseung Kwan O Study Centre / North Point Study Centre / Sports Centre / Kowloon Tong Satellite Study Centre as decided by the University.
(2) Students admitted into this programme are required to visit the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and/or other parts of Mainland China. The programme may also require students to participate in other non-local learning experience for completion of the programme. While the visits are subsidised, students are required to contribute part of the estimated cost of the visits ("students’ contribution"), whereas any personal entertainment, meals expenses, travel document fee and personal insurance costs shall be at students’ own expense. The estimated cost of the visits and students’ contribution for students admitted to the coming cohort is yet to be available due to a variety of factors such as inflation of cost of the visits, trip duration, traveling expenses, the exchange rate, etc.
(3) Starting from the 2024/25 cohort, students admitted to the full-time Bachelor of Education and Double Degree programmes are required to fulfil the “Exit Requirements for Teachers’ Professional Conduct and Ethics”, which consists of three components: 1) Fulfilment of assessment requirements of Field Experience; 2) Satisfactory completion of two required courses related to Teachers’ Professional Conduct and Ethics; 3) Fulfilment of relevant co-curricular requirement.
Field Experience
Field experience (FE) is a core domain in both the pre-service and in-service teacher education programmes at the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) which aims to support students to develop the graduate attributes of the University, i.e., Professional Excellence, Ethical Responsibilities and Innovation (PEER &I), and to nurture them to be outstanding and caring educators and professionals who contribute constructively to sustainable social and economic development in Hong Kong and beyond. Career Prospects/Professional Recognition
Graduates will possess teacher qualifications in Hong Kong and are eligible to apply for Registered Teacher (RT) from the Education Bureau for teaching Business, Accounting and Financial Studies [BAFS] and Business Fundamentals [BF] in local secondary schools.
Graduates can take up positions in the financial sector that require robust financial knowledge as an alternative pathway. Meanwhile, the promising opportunities provided by the public sector and the non-government sectors in the field of financial education can be another option for career development.
Note: As the 2025/26 academic year is the beginning of the 2025/26 - 2027/28 triennium, the programmes to be offered in the 2025-28 triennium with allocation of UGC-funded places are still subject to the Government's approval.

EdUHK is one of the teacher education providers in Hong Kong. Graduates of the University’s teacher education programmes are eligible to apply to become fully qualified Registered Teachers. For registration as a teacher, graduates should approach the Teacher Registration Team of the Education Bureau (EDB) to submit applications directly. All applications will be independently assessed by the EDB which will consider, among other things, whether an applicant has been convicted of any criminal offence (including sex-related offences) in Hong Kong or elsewhere, or is involved in any ongoing criminal proceedings or investigations.
