Welcome to the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies! Uniquely situated in one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, Hong Kong, the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies provides an ideal vantage point for students to engage in innovative and multi-disciplinary scholarship addressing social, economic, political, geographical and educational issues, as well as their implications and challenges for policy-making and changes in local, national and global contexts.
Drawing on a community of established and emerging scholars whose research interests cover (1) gender, youth and social transformation, (2) urban, environment and sustainability, (3) business, personal finance education, and entrepreneurship, as well as (4) public governance and public policy, the department strives to equip students to be life-long learners, to develop technical, analytical and critical skills necessary to meet the societal and public needs, and to be agents of change contributing to the betterment of Hong Kong and the global community.
