National and Moral Education
INTRODUCTION
This Minor introduces learners to the latest debates on ideals, practices and issues in national and moral education. Through a reflective-inquiry approach, learners will be able to develop a critical understanding of related concepts and theories. In addition, the Minor intends to enrich participants' knowledge and understanding of important themes and issues related to the family life, morality, values, community and citizenship in Hong Kong; important political, cultural, social and economic themes and issues in China with multiple perspectives and critical understanding. It also provides participants with a basic understanding of the nature and characteristics of the national, moral, value, and related civic education curriculum in Hong Kong secondary schools. Major models, approaches and strategies in designing, implementing and evaluating school and community-based national, moral, value, and civic education will be introduced and critically examined in the local and national context.
