Dr. LI Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies at the Education of University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). Prior to joining EdUHK, he was Associate Professor in the School of Geography at Nanjing Normal University (2021-2024); Postdoctoral Fellow in the Institute of Future Cities at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2019-2021); Senior Research Officer in the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University (2019); Research Fellow in the School of Geography at the University of Melbourne (2019).
Dr. LI completed his PhD (Human Geography), Master of Environment and Bachelor of Science (Degree with Honours) at the University of Melbourne.
His research interests cover urban (re)development, urban governance, power, conflict and justice, social sustainability, and sports geography. He has published widely in leading international journals such as Habitat International, Urban Studies, Journal of Contemporary China, and Eurasian Geography and Economics. He serves as Honorary Fellow in the Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies at the University of Melbourne and sits on the youth editorial board of Chinese Geographical Science.
