Effects of Eight-Hour Time-Restricted Feeding with or without Exercise on Cardiometabolic Health in Males with Central Obesity: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial
[Health and Medical Research Fund (HMRF) 2021, Food and Health Bureau, HKSAR]
Abstract:
Currently, obesity is a serious public health concern globally and also in Hong Kong. Time-restricted feeding (TRF) is a popular nutrition strategy that involves an extended daily fasting interval and allows ad libitum eating within a limited daily time period (e.g., 6−10 hours). TRF and aerobic exercise play an important role in improving cardiometabolic health among adults with central obesity, while the effects of TRF combined with exercise remain unknown. Therefore, this study aims to compare the effects of TRF and aerobic exercise, either alone or in combination, on cardiometabolic health among men with central obesity. The scientific findings from this study may provide valuable information on alleviating obesity-induced metabolic health problems.
