Chan Yan Kit, a current student from Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) Programme, is a role model of elite athlete on developing his dual career pathway. Kit retired from full-time badminton athlete and has become part-time coach at Hong Kong Sports Institute since 2016.
With the comprehensive support of the MOU between The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) and the two institutions, The Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) and The Hong Kong Athletes Career & Education Programme (HKACEP), Kit returns to school and becomes a part-time student in Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) Programme.

Referring to the article from Sportsroad, Kit told,
‘this is a big challenge for me, as I haven’t studied since my Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination in 2002, quitting schools for 19 years, it is definitely not easy to pick up the books again. If I was not an athlete, I could have been overwhelmed by the challenges. My life as an athlete has enhanced my persistence, which I am brave enough to find solutions for tackling the difficulties, instead of escape.’
Kit’s perseverance makes his post-athletic transformation successfully and wish him a very bright prospect with developing his talent!
