Kok Yu-hang
Duel Career Pathway for Community Contribution
Kok Yu Hang (Abraham) is a final year student in Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) and a retired triathlon athlete. With the recommendation from EduHK, he participated in a social enterprise contest - The Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund (SIE Fund) organized by BEHub. Abraham’s team had passed the vetting procedure and had successfully granted the funding approval for starting up his project - “Hong Kong Special Needs Sports Institute”.

Abraham established “Hong Kong Special Needs Sports Institute” to train up professional coaches and organize sports programmes for students with special educational needs (SEN). He is very grateful for the guidance from EdUHK, ‘I was feeling lost when I was retired from being an athlete, fortunately I got a chance to study in Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) at EdUHK. I selected Sport and Exercise for Special Populations as one of my elective courses, which had nurtured my interest on the area of SEN. In addition, Mr Chan Ching Yat, the senior lecturer, inspired me on understanding the difficulties for SEN children to play sports.‘
‘Meanwhile, I recognized from the promotion activities at EdUHK that the university had provided lots of support and advice to students on developing social enterprise business, which the university encouraged me to join this contest after our consultation. I hope I can help more SEN children develop their hobbies in sports! Sincerely, I would like to thank you EdUHK on providing continuous support and patience on serving and retired athlete-students.
