The programme 'Co-Creating New Normal Teacher Education' was organised by the Hong Kong United Youth Association, undertaken by the HKUYA Student Network Alliance, and co-organised by Shenzhen Victoria Kindergarten, Shenzhen Hong Kong Pui Kiu College Longhua Xinyi Kindergarten, and The Education University of Hong Kong. The programme aimed to provide a collaborative platform for students from The Education University of Hong Kong to improve their professional skills and teaching quality for their future careers as teachers.
Students conducted their teaching practice at a kindergarten in Shenzhen. The interns collaborated with practitioners and gained teaching experience. The programme was designed to provide an authentic teaching environment that exposes interns to real-life teaching situations and allows them to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice.

Students' Sharing
I have gained a lot from my 5-day internship at Shenzhen Victoria Kindergarten. I spent each day observing the children and gradually building friendships with them. As a teacher intern, I read stories to them and led them through warm-up exercises before physical activities. Subsequently, I conducted my class under the guidance of my support teacher. Leading a class on my own was an enjoyable experience. The children were very active, enthusiastically responding to and expanding upon our questions in class. The children displayed strong thinking skills and self-confidence in the IB class. Overall, it was a very fruitful internship experience!
I participated in the International Kindergarten Internship Program from May 15th to 19th, 2023, which took place at Shenzhen Hong Kong Pui Kiu College Longhua Xinyi Kindergarten. During the internship, I was assigned to a nursery class (K1T) with 27 children. Although the internship period was short, it allowed me to enrich myself by planning an activity and experiencing what it's like to be an ECE teacher. After the internship, I gained a better understanding of the needs of K1 children, which will improve my design of teaching activities in the future. Observing how other teachers taught enriched my teaching skills, such as providing learning materials that are relevant to the daily lives of children and adopting active learning approaches for K1 children. Most importantly, teaching a group of 27 K1 children is not simple. Following the guidance of the homeroom teachers deepened my classroom management skills.
