Research Interests

  • Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL):
    • Design AI-enhanced learning tools to address L2 learner challenges (e.g., reducing anxiety or  improving speaking proficiency).
    • Collaborate with universities, schools, and tech industries to integrate emerging technologies (e.g., metaverse or AI) into language curricula.
    • Prototype and test innovative CALL environments to enhance learner engagement and outcomes.
  • Informal Digital Learning of English (IDLE):

    • Develop teacher training programs to integrate IDLE tools (e.g., apps or social media platforms) into classroom teaching.

    • Exhance digital resource access for learners in underserved communities, enabling self-directed and informal learning.

    • Investigate the pedagogical potential of IDLE tools to support personalized, flexible learning pathways.

  • Social Impact & Scalability:

    • Apply original research (e.g., IDLE) to develop programs addressing real-life challenges of L2 learners and teachers in disadvantaged, under-resourced, or under-researched areas.
    • Measure actual changes in these communities.
    • Develop scalable solutions using open-access toolkits, cross-sector partnerships, and policy advocacy to reach broader populations
