                         Agenda item 2: Choice of project
                         To use extra ESF funding to improve teacher’s pedagogical knowledge and skills.
                         A decision is needed of the best way to go.

                         Main arguments:
                            Give each teacher a certain amount for own use.
                            Allocate money to subject departments to determine priorities.
                            Organise a whole school event to cover generic improvement strategies.

                         Decision:
                         Take a whole school approach to improving approaches to teaching.

                         Action:
                         Set up committee to plan 2‐day workshop.  Contact committee nominees and
                         get initial plan by 23rd December.






              Summary:

              Too make meetings in the school or department successful:
                  Inform others of what took place.
                  Highlight the decisions taken.

                  Monitor agreed actions.
                  Tell your employees clearly what the purpose is.

                  Make sure everyone had done his or her homework.
                  Prepare an agenda with items in the right order.

                  Prescribe a certain amount of time for each item, and stick to it.
                  Only let people talk if they have something useful and relevant to say.

                  Do not invite everyone just because they have always attended.
                  Make sure you achieve the purpose of the meeting.
                  Make action plans and name people who are to do things.
