Learning Square Meetings
There will be at least five regular Learning Square Meetings. These are
held about every two months. Learning Squares should meet
at a time/day convenient to all parties, preferably on a rotational basis
at each of the member’s schools where the host provides both spiritual
and ‘physical’ hospitality. The purpose of these meetings is to discuss
progress, problems and possibilities. Learning Squares will determine a
clear purpose for their Meetings. This should focus on improving
leadership in a fairly specific way. Perhaps an ongoing theme. It could
focus on issues such as the new secondary curriculum or small class
teaching.
The meetings are a chance to discuss issues relevant to Beginning
Principals. Whereas this may include learning specific technical skills, it
should also include a strategic element. Meeting content may draw on
blue skies support materials; involve instruction, advice,
asking ‘Hard Questions’, or even identifying where additional help can
be found. Discussion can be framed by the Key Qualities of the
Principalship in Hong Kong©.
Beginning Principals can use this opportunity to
update their learning agendas.
Beginning Principals can record their learning outcomes.
