Helene Ärlestig PhD (Ed.) works as an associate professor at the Centre for
Principal Development, Umeå University, Sweden. Her research interest concerns
organizational communication, pedagogical leadership, quality assurance and
principal’s role and work. She is involved in several international comparative
studies about principals’ leadership, for example the International Successful
School Principal Project, ISSPP and International School Leadership Development
Network, ISLDN. She is deputy director at the Centre for Principal Development at
Umeå University. The Centre runs the National Principal Programme which is
compulsory for all newly appointed principals in Sweden.
