Geography Student Receives Award in French Speech Competition
Congratulations to Tracy Liu Sin-ying, a Year 4 student on the Bachelor of Education (Geography) programme at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), for winning the “Prix Meilleur Espoir” (Best Hope Prize) at The 11th Interuniversity French Speech Competition of the Pearl River Delta organised by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macao, and the Institute French of China.
Contestants of the speech competition came from different schools including local universities, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou University, Shenzhen Polytechnic and South China Normal University. Liu delivered a 10-minute oral presentation via Zoom on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on her life, which was the set topic of the annual competition.
The jury congratulated Liu on her “brilliant performance” and highlighted that her “well-organised and solid presentation” allowed a better understanding of the social effects of the sanitary crisis. Her involvement in helping students with special needs and their families during the crisis made a strong impression on the jury.
