Prof. Chiu Wing Kai Stephen and Dr. Chong King Man Eric acted as project consultant to a Quality Education Fund project (2017-18) on ‘學習一帶. 體驗一路’, which was led by HKMLC Queen Maud Secondary School(港澳信義會慕德中學) and joined by four other secondary schools. This QEF project arranged students from five secondary schools to engage in a number of learning activities related to studying Belt and Road Initiative, such as new curriculum development in related subjects such as Geography, Life and Society, Chinese history, and Liberal Studies. Students from five schools were also engaged in debates to know more about the topic. Finally, they went to Kazakhstan for a study tour to learn about its various aspects and thus contributing to their cross-cultural understanding and building up a global horizon.
During this QEF project’s period, Prof. Chiu has given lecture to both teachers and students on topics related to globalization, cross-cultural interaction, and what Hong Kong youth can take advantages with the development of Belt and Road Initiative, while Dr. Chong has given advice to the Queen Maud Secondary School on planning and implementing this QEF project. A sharing session of this QEF project’s deliverables for about 60 secondary school principals and teachers, primary school principals and teachers, and EDB officials were organized on 27th October, 2018, in which Prof. Chiu delivered a keynote address again and interacted with the participants in the Q&A session.
