Cultural Busking Series Japanese Temari Workshop 日本手毬文化工作坊

 

Interested in traditional Japanese arts? Let’s join the Japanese Temari Workshop.

 

Traditionally, Temari were gifted to children on New Year’s day to wish for children's happiness. In modern Japan, Temari are a symbol of both New Year and young femininity*. To facilitate multi-cultural interaction, we are honored to invite Ms Rita Huang of Japanese Temari Association, to give a sharing on the history and background of Japanese Temari. Ms Huang will also demonstrate the steps on creating Temari. In the workshop, you will create your own Temari Charm (Christmas Poinsettia style) as well. Workshop details are as follows:

在日本傳統當中,手毬是在新年時送給小孩的禮物,祈求他們開心成長。在近代,手毬則變成象徵新年、女性氣質等的傳統工藝品。為了增加多元文化交流,我們有幸邀請到日本手毬協會理事 黃秀娟小姐 (明周文化專訪),與我們分享有關日本手毬的歷史和背景。黃小姐更會即場示範製作手毬,同學亦會跟隨學習製作屬於自己的手毬掛飾 (聖誔花款式)!詳情如下:
