Employment in Hong Kong during the Study Period for Non-local Students (including both undergraduates and postgraduates)
Non-local students (EXCLUDING exchange and visiting students) are permitted to take up part-time on-campus employment, summer-term employment:

Eligible students will be notified by a "No Objection Letter" (NOL) upon approval of entry and extension of stay applications. The NOL will spell out the type(s) and conditions of employment which the student may take up. Non-local students who have not been granted prior approval by the Immigration Department nor issued with NOL are NOT allowed to take up any kind of employment; exchange students are NOT allowed to take up part-time on-campus or summer employment.
Updates on NOL for Non-local Students
To enhance non-local students' experience and understanding of working in Hong Kong and increase their incentive to stay for development after graduation, the Government announced that:
- Starting from 1 November 2024, full-time non-local undergraduate students will be temporarily exempted from the restrictions on taking up part-time jobs.
- Starting from 1 November 2023, full-time non-local postgraduate students will be temporaily exempted from the restrictions on taking up part-time jobs. The arrangement has been implemented on a trial basis for two years.

Employment in Hong Kong after Study Period for Non-local Students
Non-local students who obtained an Undergraduate or Higher Qualification in a full-time and locally-accredited programme in Hong Kong may apply to stay/return and work in the HKSAR under the Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates (IANG). The IANG is quota-free and non-sector-specific.
