Education, Teaching, and Administration Training Course

Yuanpei College, Peking University, and The Education University of Hong Kong Co-organize Education, Teaching, and Administration Training Course

The Graduate School and The Global Affairs Office of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) are collaborating with Yuanpei College, Peking University, to host the Education, Teaching, and Administration Training Course from March 19 to 23, 2025. Attendees were welcomed by the Dean of the Graduate School, Professor Michelle Gu Mingyue, on March 20. In her opening speech, Prof Gu focused on the current state of higher education institutions in Hong Kong, as well as EdUHK’s contributions to the field. She noted that EdUHK scholars were named in Stanford University’s 2024 World’s Top 2% Scientists List, underscoring the University’s academic excellence. Additionally, Prof Gu outlined the multidisciplinary academic departments within EdUHK’s faculties and emphasized the institution’s numerous collaborative partnerships with organisations worldwide.

The opening ceremony allowed attendees to recognise that EdUHK is a high-quality institution centered on education and renowned for its outstanding academic strength and global influence. EdUHK’s performance, particularly in the field of education, is especially exceptional.

Following Prof Gu’s overview, EdUHK colleagues discussed specific aspects of teaching, learning and student support. Counselors Ms Sharon Cheng and Ms Tina Tsang delivered a thematic presentation and sharing session titled “Cultivating Students’ Physical and Mental Well-being.” Dr David Kang Jong Hyuk focused on the General Education curriculum at EdUHK. Dr Kang outlined the University’s postgraduate programmes, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Philosophy (MPhil), Doctor of Education (EdD), and Master of Education (MEd), including their admission requirements, programme structures, and scholarship opportunities. He also discussed EdUHK’s overseas exchange programs, academic research skills training, and whole person development initiatives.

The training course is helping administrative staff from Yuanpei College understand EdUHK’s diverse programme offerings, research skills development frameworks, and student focus. The course aims to enable the two institutions to further explore future administrative support, such as enhancing psychological counseling services for students. In addition to administrative support, both institutions will explore future academic collaborations, particularly in attracting Yuanpei College undergraduate students to pursue postgraduate studies at EdUHK.
