Classes in the same or different semester(s) may be scheduled on weekday daytime/evenings, weekends and/or during long holidays at the Tai Po Campus / Tseung Kwan O Study Centre / North Point Study Centre / Kowloon Tong Satellite Study Centre and/or other locations as decided by the University.

The medium of instruction is English. The fieldwork attachment for the practice track will be conducted in Chinese or English.

Applicants should hold a recognised Bachelor’s degree and/or a postgraduate diploma, preferably in education, psychology or related disciplines. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview and /or take a test. 

Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution in a non-English speaking system should normally fulfil one of the following minimum English proficiency requirements:

  • Overall score of IELTS 6.0 (academic version) (the test should be taken in test centres and the result should be valid within two years)*; or
  • TOEFL score of 80 (internet-based test) (the test should be taken in test centres and the result should be valid within two years)*; or
  • Band 6 in the Chinese Mainland’s College English Test (CET) (a total score of 430 or above and the test result should be valid within two years); or
  • Grade C or above in GCSE / GCE OL English; or
  • Other equivalent qualifications.

 

*The results of IELTS/TOEFL should be taken in test centres (i.e., tests taken online such as IELTS indicator/IELTS Online and TOEFL Home Editions are NOT accepted).

 

Tuition Fee: HK$159,480

The tuition fee is HK$6,645 per credit. Tuition fees paid are normally not refundable or transferable. Extension fees will be charged to students who have to extend their studies beyond the normative period of study (i.e. 1 year for full-time and 2 years for part-time).

  • Master of Arts in Child and Family Education Entrance Scholarship
    A maximum of two entrance scholarships of HK$30,000 will be offered to MA(CFE) freshmen each year.

    A maximum of two academic scholarships of HK$30,000 will be offered to MA(CFE) students each year.

    A maximum of three awards (with a maximum amount of HK$15,000 each) will be offered to MA(CFE) students each year.

  • The Scholarship for Teachers (Pursuit of Master's Degree Programmes) 2022/23
    This programme is under "The Scholarship for Teachers (Pursuit of Master's Degree Programmes)" hosted by the Education Bureau. The Scholarship is open for application from 16 May to 13 June 2022.

  • I chose this programme because it embraces the two major elements of my work as a teacher – child and family. I often find myself linking what I have learnt from the lecturers with various issues of my individual students; learning should be a happy process, and happy students learn more effectively. In this regard, the research, experience and expertise of the lecturers have been a tremendous help to me.
