Philanthropic Support for Educational and Social Causes
The University received strong philanthropic support from various foundations, charitable trusts and organisations during the year, which led to an array of educational and community projects and initiatives to make positive changes in the promotion of life and values education, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education, sports education, social inclusion and other areas.
Promoting Global Awareness in Schools
With a donation of HK$16.57 million pledged by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust (the Trust), the University kicked off the three-year “Jockey Club ‘iSee World’ Global Education Programme” in the 2017/18 academic year to promote the development of the global outlook and awareness of secondary students, especially those from less-privileged backgrounds. The University’s programme team will provide school-based pedagogical support for teachers, along with a series of extra-curricular activities for students, including local community and experiential activities, as well as overseas exposure. Also, related activities will be organised for parents in collaboration with schools’ parent-teacher associations. The project is set to bene t 32 schools and 8,200 secondary one to three students.
造福教育及社會之慈善捐助
年內,承蒙不同基金會、慈善信託基金與機構鼎力支 持,教大推出一連串教育與社區計劃,為推廣生命及 價值教育、科學、科技、工程和數學(STEM)教育、 運動教育,以及社會融合計劃等,帶來正向轉變。
培育學生全球意識
承蒙香港賽馬會慈善信託基金(馬會慈善基金)捐 助一千六百五十七萬港元,為期三年之「賽馬 會“iSee World”全球視野教育計劃」,於二零一 七至一八學年開始推行,旨在培育中學生之國際視 野與全球意識,尤其來自基層家庭的學生。教大負 責計劃的團隊會為參與學校之教師提供校本教學法 支援,並為學生安排一系列課外活動,包括:本地 社區與體驗活動、海外考察等,並與學校家教會合 作舉辦相關的家長活動。計劃預期可惠及三十二所 學校合共八千二百名初中學生。
