This paper presents one of discrepant events that might be useful for teachers to teach how the surface tension and capillary effect are formed in science. The counterintuitive fact that water is a good liquid (its viscosity is small) provides a teachable moment for describing the usage of discrepant events as an instructional tool for science teaching.
Keywords: Physics, physical science, surface tension.
