5. | Do I need a visa to visit Shanghai, China? | |||
Most foreigner national need an Entry visa to China. There are a very few situations where no visa is required or you can obtain a visa on arrival. The following paragraphs explain the main exemptions. i) Visa Exemption for Nationals of Singapore, Brunei and Japan Ordinary passport holders of Singapore, Brunei and Japan are allowed to enter China without visas for up to 15 days for tourism, including visiting family or friends, or minor business purposes provided they enter through nominated international ports. For nationals of these three countries, a visa is required under following circumstance:
China has mutual visa-free agreements with some foreign countries, but they are mainly for diplomatic, service or official passport holders and only allow the duration of stay less than 30 days. iii) Visa Exemption for Direct Transit The truly transit passengers by international flight who hold onward tickets do not require a visa provided that they stay in the airport transit area and depart within 24 hours. iv) Visa Exemption for Holder of APEC Business Travel Card The APEC Business Travel Card is regarded as a multiple entry visa valid for three years. With this card and relevant passport, the holder is entitled to enter China for many times within three years. The duration of each stay should be within 2 months. For more information, please visit:

6. | How will we get from the airport to the conference venue? | |||
-Terminal 2 of Shanghai PUDONG INT'L AIRPORT (PVG) to the Conference Venue. -Terminal 1 of Shanghai HONGQIAO INT'L AIRPORT (SHA) to the Conference Venue. Metro Metro is also available at both Shanghai Pudong Int'l Airport (PVG) for RMB 7 and the Hongqiao Int'l Airport for RMB 4.

7. | How do I book a hotel room? | |||
Unless otherwise advised in advance, your room bill for March 10th and 12th will be covered by the Roundtable. You will be responsible for all other expenses incurred.

Participation is by-invitation only, and limited to 60+ scholars, scholar-practitioners, training managers, policymakers, and principals from 14 countries / territories in the region and beyond. Thus far we have received 60+ confirmations from China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. | ||||
10. | What are the goals of the Roundtable? | |||
Our goals for the Roundtable 2013 are: 1. To share research findings related to leadership in context of the East and the West; 2. To share methods of studying leadership in context; 3. To explore how school leaders respond to the opportunities, constraints and conditions that characterize the organizational and cultural contexts in which they work. |

11. | Do I need to write a paper for the Roundtable? | |||
We do not require participants to submit formal papers for the Asia Leadership Roundtable 2013, but we highly encourage you to submit formal papers for the conference. Upon your permission, the East China Normal University will translate your papers and formally publish them in China. Like the past Asia Leadership Roundtables, we will also place papers in international refereed journals. The organizers will do our best to continue this trend of publication of our participants' papers in conference proceeding and prestigious journals. We request that participants submit papers from 1,500 to 5,000 words in length. Topic should revolve around "Leadership in Context". Details of submission requirements, please refer to the attached. |

12. | Will I make a presentation of my paper? | |||
Participants will not present their papers. The format of the meeting emphasizes interaction, not academic paper presentation. | ||||

For the opening speech, provocateur sessions, and keynote speeches, computer generated projectors will be provided.
In Day 2 of Roundtable (March 12, 2013), whiteboard and markers will be provided. If you want us to print any handouts or poster for you, please send to us (APCLC@ied.edu.hk) no later than March 4, 2013. |

15. | What will be the weather in Shanghai? | |||
The weather in March is windy in early spring, but warms up gradually. The average high and low temperatures are 12 °C (54 °F) and 5 °C (41 °F).
Clothing: Sweaters and overcoats are needed, but also bring thin sweaters and long-sleeve T-shirts in case it gets warmer during the day. |
