Setting the Scene
Links is built around inquiry learning in which leaders are challenged to learn by
doing.
A key element of the programme is the AGENCY PROJECT.
The project asks participants to improve an aspect of their school’s operations
and outcomes, not as an academic or theoretical exercise, but within the reality
of their school. It is about exercising leadership for change. Through the Agency
Project participants will make a difference to their schools, and even beyond.
Agency Project
The Agency Project has two purposes.
First, to improve a targeted aspect of the school — one which fits with
the role and responsibilities of the middle leader. For example, it can
target assessment, pedagogy, policy, operating procedures, collaborative
processes or other element of school life that the school leaders shape.
Second, it is about improving your own leadership skills and capabilities.
Both the process and the outcomes of the project are important. It is not just
what you achieve that counts but the leadership learning that you gain through
undertaking this project that is important.
In other words, the Agency Project is about learning the skills of leadership
through engaging in an inquiry into how you and your team can improve some
aspect of your school’s operations and outcomes.
