One of the best ways to learn is to constantly question what you are
doing. It is also a good idea to compare and contrast what is
happening in your schools with those of your colleagues. Here are
some questions you might ask yourself during blue skies; of course
there are many others. These questions may be useful during your LS
meetings.
Question Set 5
● Is it difficult to share areas of concern with my staff, and with
other principals?
● Is it wise for me to try to change values too quickly? Or at all?
● Is their any ‘special language’ used in my school? Is their more
that one way to influence culture?
● What are others doing/have done in their schools?
● What changes would you like to implement in your school in
terms of protocols, systems or procedures?
● What dilemmas (issues, challenges, problems) am I currently
dealing with in school?
● What do our schools have in common?
Question Set 6
● What does it mean if we see all our school’s values as
rhetorical?
● What is my role in culture change?
● What is the point of systematically evaluating my schools’
capabilities?
● What learning goals can I identify for my own professional
development?
● Where did I find the stated values in my school?
● Who can provide ideas and advice on how to cope with specific
dilemmas?
● Who seems to be dealing with the same issues as I am facing at
the moment?
