Analysis, Modeling and Transference of Practices

Located in Organizational Context, Through Simulations

in Decision-Making of Managers and School Leaders
                      Paulo Volante

The study seeks to analyse the process of professional training in school leadership,
through the use of a tool of simulation based in key experiences of school principals.
Also, a methodology of exchange of expert practices in leadership will be validated,
through de use of decision-making simulations, in the context of school organisations.

The project will be developed in three stages: during the first, key scenarios of school
leaders will be selected and analysed. During the second, these scenarios will be
adapted to the local context through a virtual platform of simulations. In the third
stage, the intervention will be validated as an effective method for the learning,
through the evaluation of directive competences.

In order to adapt and validate the tool, there will be a previous qualitative study. Its
main purpose is to collect data about the performance of expert school leaders and
their context. The analysis will allow to obtain key information about expert
knowledge, and to formulate recurrent scenarios and effective decisions. Then, in a
next stage of research, these situations, scenarios and decisions will be moderated
through a software designed for the production of simulations. It will allow to generate
a series of situations within a computer interface, in order to improve decision-making
processes of school leaders, based in local information, and created with codes of
                      specific school organisations.
