Preface
Welcome to this project hosted by The Joseph Lau Luen Hung
Charitable Trust Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change (APCLC)
of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), funded by
the Service Leadership Education Limited (SLP)! This project provides
a comprehensive study of current theories and applied research
in middle leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurialism. It reveals
practices and principles of organisational restructuring, organisational
development, and innovation, presenting strategies for supporting
entrepreneurialism in educational organisations (edupreneurialism).
The project addresses the notion of the 3Cs qualities introduced by
Dr Chung Po Yang, whereby entrepreneurs need to be aware of and
fluent in the subject of the 3Cs (competence, character and care) in order
to become great service leaders. Another notion the project addresses
is innovation for continuous improvement, whereby successful
educational organisations identify creative strategies to meet
organisational goals. Participants will analyse organisations
to understand the factors facilitating and prohibiting change and
will examine culturally specific perspectives towards organisational
change to a better understanding of innovation and change in the
East Asian context. Participants will go through an entrepreneurial
journey by analysing systemic changes and working in a team setting
to identify entrepreneurial solutions to deal with such changes.
This study guide will provide you with information to guide your study.
You will find that this project has been constructed to take your needs
into account as a middle leader with an entrepreneurial mindset. Its focus
will be on assisting you to undertake your role as an entrepreneurial
middle leader in schools (i.e. Edupreneur) and issues that you face daily
and in strategic planning. In this sense, it is not an overly theoretical
programme except where an understanding of theory would help you
become a better leader. I hope that as the project progresses, you will
gradually acquire knowledge and skills to become an entrepreneurial
teacher and be able to apply these skills to enhance efficiency and
effectiveness within your teams. I hope you enjoy the project.
