I would like extend my warmest congratulations to The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), which has entered a new era upon of cially attaining the university title on 27 May 2016.
Since its inception in 1994 as The Hong Kong Institute of Education by merging the four former Colleges of Education and the Institute of Language in Education, the EdUHK has come a long way and has now become one of the ten universities and the eighth publicly-funded university in Hong Kong. The award of university title is a well-deserved recognition of the institution’s remarkable achievements and progress in its pursuit of excellence in teaching, scholarship, research and contribution to the community over the years.
As a multidisciplinary institution focusing on teacher education and complementary disciplines, EdUHK has been playing a pivotal role
in nurturing competent, professional and quality educators for the bene t of our next generation. On this joyous occasion, I would like to commend the staff, students and graduates of EdUHK for their unrelenting efforts and devotion to serving our community. Building on its strong foundation, I am sure the EdUHK will go from strength to strength in the years to come in delivering its mission of “Education-plus”.
