"STEAM Education: 3D Chinese Cultural Architectural Design Competition" (The Competition) is organised by The Department of Mathematics and Information Technology of the Education University of Hong Kong. Secondary and tertiary students are encouraged to participate in the Competition to combine technology with arts, and 3D-print architecture or architectural compound model with Chinese cultural significance.
《Secondary School》
I. | This is a team competition. Each team should consist of 2-5 students. There is no limit on the number of teams of each secondary school, yet each student can only participate in one team. Participating school must arrange one teacher as the contact person to submit the entries. |
II. | The entry must be original. It can be 3D-printed separately and coloured. |
III. | Size:Maximum 30cm x 30cm x 30cm. The shortest side of the entry must not be shorter than 20cm. |
《Post-Secondary and Tertiary School》
I. | This is a team competition. Each team should consist of 2-5 students. There is no limit on the number of teams of each secondary school, yet each student can only participate in one team. Participating school must arrange one teacher as the contact person to submit the entries. |
II. | The entry must be original. It can be 3D-printed separately and coloured. |
III. | Size:Maximum 50cm x 50cm x 50cm. The shortest side of the entry must not be shorter than 40cm. |
I. | The submission of entry is divided into two phases: Phase 1: Draft of design and idea Each team should submit a draft to introduce the design and the idea behind its production. The pictures in the draft can be scanned drawings or computer graphics. The total number of slides is recommended to be less than 20. The presentation file (.ppt/.pptx) should be compressed in zip format for uploading to the online application form. | >

Phase 2: Final model and video Selected entries need to submit a video (within 3 minutes) to introduce the design and the idea behind its production, and show the learning process of STEAM education. The final model should be 3D-printed, assembled, colored and optimized, and then fixed on a wooden or plastic board for submission. |

II. | The assessment is divided into two phases. In the first phase, judging panel from the Education University of Hong Kong will assess and pick out the outstanding entries. In the second phase, guest judging panel will choose the champion, the first runner-up, the second runner-up and merit prizes among the selected entries in the first phase of the Competition. |

III. | The Competition also presents the “STEAM and Chinese Cultural Significance Model Award”, one for Secondary Group and one for Tertiary Group, in order to acknowledge outstanding entries that apply and combine STEAM knowledge, technique and Chinese culture. All contestants who applied to the Competition and with successful entry submission will receive a Certificate of Participation.
After the second phase, we will further contact all winners to collect the 3D model files (.stl) for exhibition.

Outstanding entries with videos will be displayed around the campus of the Education University of Hong Kong and other appropriate venues. The exhibition will be opened to public. Related entries and videos will also be uploaded to the Competition webpage.

I. | Submitted entries must be original. If violation of the rule is found, participants could be disqualified. |
II. | Entries cannot be amended, replaced or returned once submitted. |
III. | The same entry can be submitted only once. |
IV. | Contestants must guarantee that submitted entries has never been published by any means and has never been used in participating in other competitions. |
V. | Entries of finalists, the names of their contestants and entry descriptions will be displayed to the public. |
VI. | The organiser reserves rights to interpret, understand and amend the regulations of the Competition. |
VII. | Should any dispute arise, the decision of the organiser shall be final. |
