Professor Paul G. HARRIS, Chair Professor of Global and Environmental Studies in the Department of Social Sciences, has been appointed as Politics & Justice Section Editor of the new PLOS journal, PLOS Climate. The journal joins other prestigious PLOS periodicals with high impacts on scholarship and society. PLOS Climate aims to "empower academic researchers, policy-makers, governments, international organizations and industry to understand dynamic, changing climates and take positive, evidence-based action in the face of climate change." This real-world, action-oriented approach "will catalyze practical solutions and amplify perspectives from under-represented voices and regions about issues across the breadth of climate research," in the process emphasizing research "that improves global and regional understanding of climate phenomena and informs critical strategies for combating climate change." In these respects, the journal fits well with Professor Harris's work over three decades to enhance understanding of climate governance and justice.
