亞洲及政策研究學系博士生榮獲特區政府獎學金
香港教育大學亞洲及政策研究學系本年度迎來四位研究型博士生(PhD)，他們全部獲得由香港特別行政區政府頒發的博士研究生獎學金。
Burcu Mirkelam小姐、Munira Jahan小姐及Tareq Hossain Khan先生獲得香港特區政府頒授給博士生的最高獎學金——香港博士研究生獎學金(Hong Kong PhD Fellowship)。此獎學金計劃由特區大學教育資助委員會轄下資研局於2009年啟動，頒授予成績特別優秀並富有學術潛力的博士生。獲獎的博士研究生每年可獲得近32萬元港幣的獎學金及會議及研究活動交通津貼。本年度香港教育大學共有四位優秀的博士獲此最高殊榮，其中三位來自亞洲及政策研究學系。此外，特區政府教育局日前也公佈了「一帶一路獎學金」的頒授名單，本系博士生SAI Htong Kham先生榜上有名。本獎學金由特區政府資助，授予來自「一帶一路」沿線地區的優秀學子在香港深造。獎學金涵蓋三年的全額學費，並會按照學術表現而續頒獎學金。本年度全港八所公立大學共有不超過25人獲此殊榮。
Born and Raised in Istanbul (Turkey), Ms Mirkelam graduated from Sociology and Political Science and International Relations double-major programme at Bogazici Univerisity (Turkey). During her undergraduate study, she was selected to the ERASMUS-Exchange programme in University College London (UCL) at the Department of Anthropology. As a Jean Monnet Scholarship holder, she completed MSc Political Sociology programme at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2016. In 2018, she graduated with a second master degree in Asian Studies at Bogazici University. Ms Mirkelam strongly believes that conducting her research in a key geographical location in East Asia, like Hong Kong, will widen her perspective.
Ms Jahan earned her Bachelor and Master degrees from the Department of Government and Politics at Jahangirnagar University (Bangladesh) and second Master degree in Public Policy from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPAS) in Tokyo. She has been working as a faculty member in the Department of Political Science at the Jagannath University (Bangladesh) since 2014. Her research area is ‘Bangladesh Policy towards China’.
Mr Khan received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Government and Politics from the Jahangirnagar University (Bangladesh) and second Master degree in International Relations from Jacobs University and University of Bremen, Germany. Prior to his studies at EdUHK, he has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the Jagannath University (Bangladesh).
Born and raised in Myanmar, Mr Sai obtained his Bachelor and Master degrees from the Department of Asian and Policy Studies of the Education University of Hong Kong. After graduation, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Department. He also participated in voluntary services at the Hong Kong Society Asylum-seekers and Refugees (HKSASR), founded by Assistant Professor Isabella Ng, since he was a sophomore. Mr Sai’s research interests lie in potential youth leaders’ socio-political participation, conflicts and displaced population. His doctoral research project is related to the potential youth leaders and their socio-political participation in the conflict-affected regions in Myanmar.
