Co-organised by the Department of Social Sciences (SSC) of the EDUHK and the Hong Kong Police College, the TeachLink Workshop held at Police Headquarters on 18 May. Teachers from 23 secondary schools participated in the event.
Professor Lui Tai-lok, Vice President (Research and Development) of EDUHK and Ms. Cheung Ching, Director of Hong Kong Police College have given the opening speeches, they mentioned there are full of different challenges and changes in school communities, supports provided by teachers and police force are important when dealing with those.
During the workshop, speakers Professor Chan Ko-ling from PolyU discussed the roles of teacher on helping students to face domestic violence and the risk factor assessments, while Station Sergeant Mr. Wan Chin-ki discussed the impacts of triads on teenagers and how to prevent teenager’s joining.
As the supervisor of this workshop, Dr. Lawrence Ho from the Department of SSC of the EDUHK said, this event provided a good opportunity for cooperation between EDUHK, the Hong Kong Police College and teachers from secondary school, the talks and interactions help to develop the knowledge transfer and collaborative networks of the University and wider community. Through the empowerment and working as an experiential learning, the workshop was organized by four students from the BALSE program of the EDUHK: Lam Ho-sang, Law Chung-sing, Tsoi Kai-yuen and Lau Kin-yu.
