Dr Michael Yeung, Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychology (PS) of The Education University of Hong Kong, was presented with the Rising Star Award by the Association for Psychological Science (APS) in February 2025.
Dr Yeung is a researcher in neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience. His research focuses are executive functions and other human frontal lobe functions, which include socioemotional competence. He won a fund from Research Grants Council (RGC) in 2022 for his research on investigating executive function development in autism using fNIRS, as well as another fund from Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) in 2024 for his research on developing technological methods (i.e. EEG-fNIRS Neurofeedback Application) for brain training for autistic children.

The APS Rising Star designation is presented to outstanding APS members in the earliest stages of their research career post-PhD. This designation recognizes researchers whose innovative work has already advanced the field and signals great potential for their continued contributions.
