2023-11-20

Supported by the Tin Ka Ping Education Fund, our department was pleased to welcome Professor Yanjun Guan, Professor in Management at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China for a visit from 13 to 17 November 2023.

Over the course of his visit, Professor Guan met with the CEO of the Tin Ka Ping Foundation and consulted with our faculty members and research postgraduate students. In addition, he gave two talks:

On 14 November, Professor Guan gave a sharing session on “Leading International Research Collaborations”. Over 20 scholars and 7 research postgraduate students joined the interactive session, both online and in-person. Professor Guan's presentation about his experiences in finding research collaborators throughout the years, combined with his research expertise in the area, gave the audience a thorough comprehension of the processes involved and the factors that need to be considered.

On 15 November, Professor Guan delivered a public hybrid seminar titled “Person-Environment Fit and Career Development in the Boundaryless Career Era”.  He presented his collaborative research projects, which aim to tackle important issues in person-environment (P-E) fit research. He also provided an agenda for future research and introduced his own research that explores the mixed effects of P-E misfit on employee performance. In addition, he discussed the application of Identity-Capability-Reward (ICR) and Cybernetic Development models to re-conceptualize P-E fit and its effects in the modern, boundaryless career world. The presentation sparked lively discussions among faculty members, undergraduate and postgraduate students, scholars from different institutions, and psychology practitioners. Approximately 50 individuals joined the seminar.

Staff and students gained insights on their research topics and discussed possibility of research collaboration.  We encourage you to make the most of the chance to review the sharing session’s and the seminar's video and slides, which will remain accessible online until 15 February 2024.
