EdUHK’s MIT and LTTC Host Delegation from CCNU to Advance AI and Education Collaboration
On 8 December 2024, The Education University of Hong Kong’s (EdUHK) Department of Mathematics and Information Technology (MIT) and Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology (LTTC) jointly hosted a delegation from Central China Normal University (CCNU) to explore collaborative opportunities in artificial intelligence (AI) in education.
The delegation was led by Professor Yang Zongkai, a nationally renowned scholar and leader in education and technology. Professor Yang is among the first group of national-level candidates in the "New Century Millions of Talents Project." He serves as the President of the China Educational Technology Association, Vice President of the China Education Development Strategy Association, and Chairperson of the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Teaching Informatization and Teaching Method Innovation Steering Committee. Additionally, he directs key national research centers, including the National Engineering Research Center for E-Learning, the National Engineering Laboratory for Educational Big Data Applications, and the Ministry of Education's Education Informatization Strategic Research Base (Central China).
Professor Yang has dedicated his career to research and innovation in educational informatization policies, foundational theories, key technologies, and the transformation of teaching practices. He notably led the expert group that developed the National Education Informatization Ten-Year Development Plan (2011–2020), contributing significantly to the strategic advancement of education informatization in China. The delegation also included distinguished academics Professor Wu Di, Professor Wu Longkai, Associate Professor Wu Ke, Ms Zhang Daixi, Ms Liu Xiaohuizhuo, and Ms Liu Xuan.
Representing EdUHK were key faculty members, including Professor Xu Guandong, Chair Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Director of LTTC, Professor Looi Chee Kit, Research Chair Professor of Learning Sciences of C&I, Associate Dean of Graduate School, Dr. Sun Daner, Associate Head of MIT, Dr. Ba Shen, Dr. Yang Yin, LTTC colleagues, and MIT phD students.
The event began with a welcome by Professor Xu, followed by discussions on a series of collaboration and activities.
The visit concluded with a tour of the Metaverse Education Lab and the LLM Studio, where cutting-edge AI applications in education were showcased, demonstrating EdUHK’s leadership in integrating technology into learning and teaching.
This meeting highlighted the shared vision of MIT, LTTC, and CCNU in advancing innovation and collaboration in AI in education.
