Honorary Co-Chairman, Learning and Teaching @HKIEd Festival 2015 Organizing Committee
Vice President (Academic), The Hong Kong Institute of Education
.
.It is my honour to extend our appreciation to the guests, colleagues and students supporting the Learning and Teaching Festival @HKIEd 2015. Since it was first held in 2013, it has been an important annual initiative at HKIEd for the development of learning and teaching excellence through the sharing of emerging and good practices. The Festival gathers colleagues from different Faculties and Departments to exchange novel ideas and share their experiences in learning and teaching where a community of practice is formed.
The Learning and Teaching Festival @HKIEd 2015 has been coordinated by the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology (LTTC). My grateful thanks go to the Organizing Committee, chaired by Prof. KONG Siu Cheung, for organizing the Festival for promoting and sharing the successful learning and teaching evidence on “Emerging Practices: Learning and Teaching in Higher Education” and engaging colleagues and students to showcase their achievements at HKIEd.
A series of learning and teaching activities will be carried out in February and March. I encourage colleagues to participate in the Open Class Observation and Invited Talk/Seminar, which will further strengthen a culture of professional sharing amongst our colleagues in their classrooms as well as with the external scholars in their talks and seminars. Moreover, I would like to invite all of you to spare some time to tour zones D1 and D2-LP during the Festival, as Faculties, Departments and Academic Support Units have shared their learning and teaching initiatives through the large scale Poster Board Exhibition. It will be an excellent opportunity for different units to display what they have accomplished this year and will provide an overview of the learning and teaching activities taking place across the Institute. Besides, Teaching Awardees from Faculties also share their learning and teaching experiences and vibrant learning activities in their classes with us through the Video Showcase on the TVs at D1 and D2-LP, B2 and D2-G/F, and the Canteen. Last but not least, the Festival Conference held on 20 March will provide a good summary of the entire Learning and Teaching Festival. We are proud to announce that the 2014 UGC Teaching Awardees from sister universities will deliver speeches on engaging students’ experiential learning and good teaching practices, and our colleagues and students are also encouraged to share their pursuit of excellence in learning and teaching in the parallel sessions.
I believe that February and March will be fabulous months for all of our colleagues and students. I wish the Learning and Teaching @HKIEd Festival 2015 a great success and you all fruitful exchanges at the Festival.
